The Winchester Model 94 Big Bore is a strengthened variant of the Model 94 lever action rifle, introduced in 1978 to handle cartridges generating higher chamber pressures than the standard .30-30 Winchester. The Big Bore designation reflects engineering changes to the receiver and bolt to accommodate the .375 Winchester, .356 Winchester, and .307 Winchester cartridges, which operate at pressures significantly above those of traditional Model 94 chamberings. The .375 Winchester cartridge uses a rimmed straight wall case derived from the .38-55 Winchester but loaded to substantially higher pressures. The Model 94 Big Bore feeds from a full length tubular magazine.
