The Winchester Model 12 is a hammerless, internally cocked pump action shotgun produced by Winchester from 1912 through 1964, with limited production continuing afterward. The Model 12 features a receiver machined from a solid steel forging, resulting in tight tolerances and an exceptionally smooth cycling action. The action is slam fire capable and uses a cross bolt safety located at the front of the trigger guard. The Model 12 is a takedown design, allowing the barrel and magazine tube assembly to be separated from the receiver for transport and cleaning. The Pigeon Grade represents the highest standard production grade of the Model 12, distinguished by select figured walnut, jeweled bolt and carrier, and hand fitted components.

This example was manufactured in 1950 and is chambered in 12 gauge with a 2 3/4 inch chamber. The barrel is marked for fixed full choke, although, the barrel has been shortened to 22 inches and fitted with a Cutts Compensator. The ventilated rib has been correspondingly shortened and extends rearward over the receiver, with both the rib and receiver top surfaces textured for glare reduction. The walnut stock is fitted with a pistol grip cap and a red Winchester buttpad, with a 14.25 inch length of pull. The bottom of the magazine tube carries a pigeon stamp. No original box or accessories included.
