Winchester Model 1895 Grade I .405 Winchester, 24 Inch Barrel
The Winchester Model 1895 is a lever action rifle originally manufactured by Winchester from 1895 through 1931. It was the first Winchester lever action to use a box magazine rather than a tubular magazine, a design change that allowed the safe use of spitzer pointed bullets and military cartridges. Modern production Model 1895 rifles are manufactured by Miroku in Japan for Winchester Repeating Arms and incorporate a tang mounted safety not present on the original design.
This example is a Grade I variant chambered in .405 Winchester with a 24 inch round barrel and blued finish throughout. The rifle is fitted with a checkered walnut straight grip stock and a checkered walnut schnabel forend. Sights consist of a brass bead front blade and an adjustable semi buckhorn rear sight. Accompanied by original box.
