Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine .32 Winchester Special, 20" Barrel, MFG 1912
The Winchester Model 1894 is a lever action rifle designed by John Moses Browning and manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms beginning in 1894. It was among the first commercially successful sporting rifles designed for smokeless powder cartridges and became one of the most widely produced lever action rifles in history, with over seven million units manufactured. The Saddle Ring Carbine (SRC) variant is a compact configuration featuring a 20 inch round barrel and a full length tubular magazine, intended as a practical working carbine for mounted use and field carry. A saddle ring on the left side of the receiver allowed the carbine to be secured to a saddle via a leather thong. The .32 Winchester Special was introduced in 1902 as an alternative to the .30-30 Winchester, loaded with a slightly larger diameter bullet and designed to perform well with the black powder substitutes still in common use at the time.
This example was manufactured in 1912 and is chambered in .32 Winchester Special. The carbine is fitted with a 20 inch round blued barrel and a full length tubular magazine with a capacity of six rounds. The walnut straight grip stock is fitted with a steel carbine buttplate. No original box or accessories included.
