Winchester Model 1892 High Grade .45 Colt, 24 Inch Round Barrel

The Winchester Model 1892 is a lever action rifle designed as a scaled down version of the Model 1886 action, intended for shorter pistol caliber cartridges. The original Model 1892 was manufactured by Winchester from 1892 through 1941. The design uses dual vertically sliding locking bolts operated by the finger lever to lock the breechblock into the receiver. Modern production Model 1892 rifles are manufactured by Miroku in Japan for Winchester Repeating Arms.

This example is a High Grade variant, chambered in .45 Colt with a 24 inch round barrel and a full length tubular magazine. The barrel, receiver, lever, and all metal surfaces feature a blued finish. Both sides of the receiver are engraved with floral scroll patterns bordered by gold inlay, with game scenes incorporated into the engraving on each side. The rifle is fitted with a high gloss finished checkered walnut stock with a straight grip and a crescent metal buttplate, and a high gloss finished checkered walnut forend. Sights consist of a blade front sight and an adjustable semi buckhorn rear sight. Accompanied by original box.
