The Vortex Defender ST is an enclosed emitter micro red dot sight designed for pistol slide and micro platform mounting. The enclosed optical path seals the emitter and lens elements from debris, fouling, and moisture intrusion, distinguishing it from open emitter designs. The housing is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and incorporates Vortex's ShockShield internal polymer liner to absorb recoil impulse and protect electronics during sustained slide mounted use. Power is supplied by a dual source system: an ambient light solar panel supplements or replaces a top loading CR2032 battery, extending operational life and providing redundancy. The sight uses a 3 MOA red dot reticle selectable across 10 brightness settings, including two night vision compatible levels, with motion activated illumination that wakes on movement and enters a 10 minute auto shutoff at rest. The optic is waterproof and fogproof with an IPX7 rating and mounts directly to slides and plates cut for the DeltaPoint Pro footprint.
