The TA31 is the 4x32 variant of the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight series, built around a compact forged aluminum housing and fixed magnification prism design. The red chevron reticle is calibrated for 5.56 trajectories and is intended to be zeroed at the tip, with the remaining stadia used for ranging and holdover. Illumination is passive, using fiber optics in daylight and tritium in low light, eliminating the need for batteries while automatically adjusting brightness.

The TA31 became the baseline configuration for many military carbine optics due to its combination of fixed magnification and wide field of view. The prism system provides a constant eye position and rapid sight acquisition at intermediate distances while maintaining durability associated with the sealed aluminum body and minimal external controls. No original box or accessories.
