The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is an N-frame revolver chambered in .44 Remington Magnum, introduced in 1955 as the first commercially available revolver for the then-new cartridge. Developed in collaboration with Remington and handloader Elmer Keith, the Model 29 became one of the most iconic revolvers in firearms history, a status cemented by its prominent role in the 1971 film "Dirty Harry." Built on Smith & Wesson's largest standard production frame, the Model 29 was designed to handle the significant pressures and recoil of the .44 Magnum cartridge while maintaining the fit, finish, and accuracy expected of a premium target revolver. 

This example features a pinned 8 3/8 inch barrel with a blued finish and recessed cylinder chambers, consistent with production prior to the elimination of pinned barrels and recessed chambers in 1982. Based on the serial number range (N prefix), this revolver was likely manufactured in 1979 or 1980. The revolver is fitted with a wide grooved target trigger and wide checkered target hammer spur. Sights consist of a red ramp front sight paired with a micrometer click adjustable white outline rear sight. No original box or accessories included.
