Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1952 .270 Winchester

The Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1952 is a bolt action sporting rifle manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria, representing a postwar refinement of the long running Mannlicher Schoenauer line. The action utilizes a split bridge receiver with a rear bridge that is lower than the front, dual locking lugs, and a distinctive butter knife bolt handle. The rifle is fed by the Schoenauer rotary spool magazine, a design that uses a spring loaded rotary spool to present cartridges smoothly to the bolt face and is accessed through a hinged floorplate. The Model 1952 introduced a swept back bolt handle and other modernized features compared to earlier Mannlicher Schoenauer models. These rifles were imported into the United States by Stoeger Arms Corporation of New York.

This example is chambered in .270 Winchester and is marked on the top of the receiver "Made in Austria Original Mannlicher Schoenauer Mod 1952 KAL .270," with the floorplate bearing the Steyr logo and aforementioned Stoeger Arms Corporation import markings. The rifle is fitted with a walnut stock with a European cheekpiece, checkering, and an ebony forend tip. No original box or accessories included.
