The Smith & Wesson Model 629 is a double action/single action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum, built on the large N frame. The Model 629 is the stainless steel counterpart to the blued Model 29, which was introduced in 1955 as the first production revolver chambered for the .44 Remington Magnum cartridge. The Model 629 was introduced in 1979, providing the .44 Magnum platform in a stainless steel construction resistant to corrosion and suited to field use. 

This example is a Mountain Backpacker edition, product code 103693, special order number 0179, manufactured in June of 2000. The revolver features a 3 inch barrel with a full underlug and stainless steel finish throughout. The right side of the barrel is engraved "Mountain Backpacker". A faint engraving of a bear over a tree line is visible on the right side of the frame. Sights consist of a red ramp front and a micrometer click adjustable rear. The revolver is fitted with Hogue rubber grips. Original box included.

Note: Grips have been previously modified to fit the gun, though still not a perfect fit.
