Smith & Wesson Model 625-9 Mountain Gun .45 Colt, 4" Barrel, Stainless

The Smith & Wesson Model 625 Mountain Gun is a double action/single action revolver built on the N frame, distinguished from the standard Model 625 by its use of a 4 inch tapered barrel rather than a full underlug heavy barrel. The tapered barrel profile significantly reduces muzzle weight compared to the standard full underlug configuration, making the Mountain Gun noticeably lighter and faster handling in field carry. The Mountain Gun concept originated in the early 1990s as a collaboration between Smith & Wesson and gun writer Ross Seyfried, with the goal of producing a large frame revolver suitable for extended backcountry carry while still chambering effective cartridges for outdoor use. The N frame provides the structural strength to handle the full range of .45 Colt loads. The action incorporates Smith & Wesson's hammer block safety, and the cylinder holds six rounds. Sights consist of a pinned front sight and a micrometer click adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

This example is a Model 625-9, product number 160932, featuring a 4 inch tapered barrel and a satin stainless steel finish throughout. The revolver is fitted with a Hogue rubber monogrip. Accompanied by original box and paperwork.
