Smith & Wesson Model 36-1 Chiefs Special .38 Special, 3" Barrel, Blued
The Smith & Wesson Model 36, known as the Chiefs Special, is a double action/single action revolver built on the small J frame, chambered in .38 Special. Introduced in 1950, the Chiefs Special was designed as a compact, lightweight defensive revolver suited for plainclothes law enforcement and concealed carry. The Model 36 uses a five round cylinder and a fixed sight configuration, with a serrated ramp front sight and a fixed notch rear sight milled into the top strap. The Chiefs Special became one of the most widely carried backup and off duty revolvers in American law enforcement and established the J frame as the standard small frame revolver platform in the Smith & Wesson lineup.
This example features a 3 inch barrel with a blued finish throughout. The revolver is fitted with checkered walnut Magna grips with Smith and Wesson medallions and a case hardened trigger and hammer. Accompanied by original box.
