Smith & Wesson Model 19-5 .357 Magnum, 2.5" Barrel, Nickel

The Smith & Wesson Model 19 is a double action/single action revolver built on the medium K frame, chambered in .357 Magnum. Introduced in 1955 as the Combat Magnum, the Model 19 was developed at the suggestion of Bill Jordan, a U.S. Border Patrol officer who wanted a .357 Magnum revolver built on the lighter, more carry friendly K frame rather than the larger and heavier N frame used by the Model 27 and Model 28. The result was a revolver that combined full .357 Magnum capability with the handling characteristics and size of S&W's .38 Special K frame revolvers. The Model 19 quickly became one of the most widely carried duty revolvers in American law enforcement. The dash 5 designation indicates the fifth engineering change to the model, which incorporated several refinements to the action.

This example features a 2.5 inch barrel with a nickel finish and a satin nickel top strap. The revolver is fitted with checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, and a case hardened trigger and hammer. Sights consist of a ramp front sight and a micrometer click adjustable rear sight. Accompanied by original box.
