The Smith & Wesson Model 19 is a double action/single action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum, built on the medium K frame. Introduced in 1957 at the suggestion of Border Patrol officer and combat shooting pioneer Bill Jordan, the Model 19 was designed to provide a .357 Magnum revolver with the handling characteristics and carry weight of the K frame .38 Special revolvers that law enforcement officers were already familiar with. The result was a significantly lighter and more balanced revolver than the large N frame Model 27 that had previously been the only Smith & Wesson platform available in .357 Magnum. The Model 19 became one of the most widely carried duty revolvers in American law enforcement through the 1960s, 1970s, and into the 1980s. The 19-3 engineering change, introduced in 1967, incorporated the elimination of the barrel pin, a revised rear sight leaf spring, and relocation of the trigger stop from the trigger guard to the trigger itself.

This example was manufactured in 1975 and features a pinned 4 inch barrel and recessed cylinder with a blued finish throughout. The revolver is fitted with a target hammer with a wide, checkered spur and a serrated target trigger. Sights are a ramp front with a green insert and a micrometer click adjustable rear. Fitted with Rogers synthetic grips. No original box or accessories included.
