Sig Sauer P229 Elite Stainless .40 S&W, MFG October 2016

The Sig Sauer P229 is a compact, short recoil operated semi automatic pistol introduced in 1991 as a slightly smaller companion to the full size P226. The P229 uses a modified Browning cam unlock system with a machined stainless steel slide, an aluminum alloy frame, a DA/SA trigger system, and a frame mounted decocking lever. The P229 Elite series incorporates a number of enhancements over the standard P229, including the Sig Sauer Short Reset Trigger (SRT) which reduces trigger reset distance, a beavertail extension on the frame for a higher grip, front cocking serrations on the slide, an ergonomic one piece reduced reach trigger, and SIGLITE tritium night sights. Elite models also feature a Picatinny accessory rail on the dust cover.

This example is the Elite Stainless variant, model 229R-40-ASE, chambered in .40 S&W. The Elite Stainless pairs a natural finish stainless steel slide with a hard coat anodized aluminum alloy frame. This pistol was manufactured on October 12, 2016, and is fitted with rosewood grips bearing Sig Sauer medallions. Accompanied by two 10-round magazines and original box.
