Sig Sauer P228, Made in West Germany 1994, 9mm

The P228 is the compact double stack member of the classic P22x series, positioned between the full size P226 and the slimmer single stack P225. It uses the same double action/single action trigger system and frame mounted decocking lever found across the series, paired with a shortened slide and barrel for a reduced overall size. German production P228 pistols use a folded carbon steel slide with a pinned breech block on an alloy frame, a construction distinct from later milled slide SIG models.

Within the lineup, the P228 served as the compact service pistol configuration before the introduction of the P229. While similar in size and role, the later P229 adopted a milled slide design to support additional calibers, whereas the P228 remained a 9x19 specific configuration with the earlier slide construction. This example is marked with a “KE” date code indicating 1994 manufacture and is accompanied by its original box, manual, test target, and one magazine.
