SIG Sauer P226 9mm, Full Nickel Finish, W. German, MFG 1990

The SIG Sauer P226 is a full-size DA/SA semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, operating on a short recoil, locked breech system with a modified Browning cam locking mechanism. The P226 was developed as an evolution of the P220, incorporating a wider frame and double stack magazine to increase capacity to 15 rounds in 9mm. West German manufactured P226 pistols were produced by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in Eckernforde and are distinguished by their machined carbon steel slides, folded and stamped steel frames, and the fit and finish associated with that era of German production. Early West German P226 slides feature a semi-flat top profile with lightly rounded edges along the top flats, distinct from the fully rounded slide profile adopted in later production. The P226 uses a decocking lever mounted on the left side of the frame, allowing the hammer to be safely lowered from single action to double action without engaging a manual safety.

This example was manufactured in 1990 as indicated by the KA date code. The right side of the slide is marked "Made in W. Germany" and the left side bears "Sigarms Inc. Exeter, NH" import markings. The pistol features a full nickel finish applied to the frame, slide, and all external controls, along with the early semi-flat top slide profile and a vertically serrated trigger. Sights are a blacked out rear with a white dot front. The pistol is fitted with Hogue rubber grips. Accompanied by two 15-round nickel magazines, original cardboard box with foam insert, and manual.
