SIG Sauer P226R Elite Stainless .40 S&W, SRT, MFG 2016
The SIG Sauer P226 is a full size DA/SA semi automatic pistol operating on a short recoil, locked breech system utilizing a modified Browning cam locking mechanism. Originally developed for the U.S. military's XM9 pistol trials in the early 1980s, the P226 uses a steel slide on an aluminum alloy frame with a decocking lever mounted on the left side of the frame. The P226R designation indicates the railed frame variant incorporating a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail on the dust cover for mounting lights and laser devices. The Elite variant builds on the standard P226R platform with several enhancements, including front cocking serrations, an extended beavertail frame, front strap checkering, the SIG Short Reset Trigger (SRT) mechanism, and custom rosewood grips. The SRT is an enhanced trigger mechanism that reduces the reset distance in both single action and double action modes, allowing faster follow up shots and a crisper trigger feel.
This example is the Stainless Elite variation, manufactured in 2016. It features a stainless finish throughout the slide and frame and is fitted with Siglite tritium night sights. Accompanied by two 10-round magazines and original box.
