The Springfield Echelon is a full size striker fired semi automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, designed by Springfield Armory as a duty and service grade platform. The Echelon is built around a serialized stainless steel central operating assembly that serves as the fire control group and chassis, which is removable from the grip module. This modular construction allows the grip module to be swapped or replaced without affecting the serialized component. The grip module accepts interchangeable backstraps in multiple sizes to adjust grip geometry to the individual shooter. The slide features a proprietary optic mounting interface machined directly into it, designed to accept a wide range of red dot footprints through the use of adapter plates or, in the case of the Aimpoint COA equipped variant, a direct mount configuration. The slide rides on a full length steel guide rail system within the grip module. The trigger is a flat faced design with an integrated blade safety, and the pistol features no external manual safety beyond the trigger blade and internal striker safety.

This example is the Aimpoint COA equipped variant, fitted from the factory with an Aimpoint COA red dot sight mounted directly to the slide via the optic interface. The Aimpoint COA is a purpose built enclosed micro red dot designed specifically for pistol use, featuring a fully enclosed emitter housing to protect against debris and environmental interference, a 3.5 MOA dot, and multi-year constant-on battery life. The COA sits low on the slide through the direct integration with Springfield's optic mounting system, providing a streamlined profile and reliable co-witness with the factory iron sights. Accompanied by one 17 round magazine, one 20 round magazine, small, medium, and large interchangeable backstraps, magazine loader, Aimpoint documentation, and zip bag.
