The Springfield Armory Echelon is a striker fired semi automatic pistol chambered in 9mm, designed around a modular serialized stainless steel chassis system that serves as the fire control unit. The chassis is removable from the polymer grip module, allowing grip frame changes without affecting the serialized component. The Echelon operates on a short recoil, locked breech system and uses a flat faced trigger. The slide is optics ready, utilizing Springfield's Central Optics Mounting System which provides multiple mounting hole patterns to accept a wide range of red dot sights directly without adapter plates. The Echelon Comp variant integrates a compensator into the barrel and slide assembly, with ports machined into the forward portion of the slide that vent propellant gas upward to reduce muzzle flip. This compensator system is contained within the standard slide profile, maintaining holster compatibility. The grip module features an aggressive texture pattern and is designed with a variable interface system that accepts interchangeable backstrap inserts to adjust grip geometry.

This example is the 4.0C configuration, designating the compact grip module paired with a 4.0 inch barrel. The slide is finished in black melonite and the pistol is equipped with a tritium/luminescent front sight paired with a U-notch rear sight.
