The Remington 1911 UMC WWI Commemorative is a single action semi automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, manufactured and finished by Turnbull Manufacturing. This commemorative model replicates the M1911 pistols produced by Remington UMC (Union Metallic Cartridge Company) during World War I. Remington UMC was one of several contracted manufacturers that produced the M1911 for the United States military, with production beginning in 1918 at their Bridgeport, Connecticut facility. The Turnbull produced commemorative reproduces the markings, finish, and configuration of the original Remington UMC military contract pistols. The pistol operates on a locked breech, short recoil system using the Browning tilting barrel design.

This example features a blued finish throughout on the carbon steel frame and slide. The pistol is fitted with checkered wood grips with diamond reinforcement ribs, a checkered spur hammer, checkered thumb safety, checkered slide stop, checkered recoil spring plug, a flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, a fixed blade front sight, and a fixed rear notch sight. Accompanied by one Remington 7-round magazine and green Remington case.

Markings

The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 / U.S. ARMY CALIBRE .45". The right side of the frame is marked "Remington Arms Co., LLC., Ilion, NY USA". The left side of the slide bears the circular Remington UMC logo with Colt patent information and "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON ARMS UMC CO. INC. BRIDGEPORT. CONN. U.S.A.". The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with "E.E.C." inspector initials and an Eagle "E28" below the slide stop. The left side of the trigger guard bears an eagle stamp.
