The Remington Model 700 XCR is a bolt action rifle built on the Model 700 action, with the XCR designation refers to Remington's Xtreme Conditions Rifle treatment, which applies a TriNyte PVD coating to the barreled action for corrosion and abrasion resistance. The action uses a push feed bolt with two front locking lugs and a recessed bolt face. The receiver is machined from carbon steel and is drilled and tapped for scope mounting. The safety is a two position thumb safety located on the right rear of the receiver.

This example is an XCR Tactical Long Range variant chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum, a configuration intended for extended range precision shooting. It features a 26 inch fluted barrel finished in black TriNyte with a muzzle compensator currently installed. The stock is an olive green Bell & Carlson synthetic stock, incorporating a full length aluminum bedding block that extends from the receiver through the forend for consistent action to stock fit. The forend is a wide beavertail profile, configured with dual front sling swivel studs and a single rear sling swivel stud. The rifle feeds from a detachable box magazine with a paddle magazine release and is currently fitted with an enlarged bolt knob, as well as picatinny scope base. Accompanied by one detachable magazine, no original box or accessories included.
