Remington 700 RS .280 Remington, 22 Inch Barrel, DuPont Rynite Stock, MFG 1990
Produced for a limited period in the 1980s and early 1990s, the Remington 700 RS is a bolt action rifle built on the standard 700 action, with the RS designation referring to its Rynite Synthetic stock. DuPont, Remington's parent company at the time, developed Rynite as a glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic, and the 700 RS served as a platform to demonstrate the material's suitability for firearms applications. The stock is a one piece molded construction with a gray, textured surface finish. It is configured with a straight comb, Monte Carlo cheekpiece, and rubber buttpad. The action uses a push feed bolt with two front locking lugs and a recessed bolt face. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting. The safety is a two position thumb safety located on the right rear of the receiver. The rifle feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate.
This example is chambered in .280 Remington with a 22 inch barrel with a matte finish and "CK" barrel date code, corresponding to April 1990. The barrel is fitted with a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight. A Leupold scope base and 1 inch rings are installed on the receiver. The barrel date code is CK, corresponding to April of 1990. No original box or accessories included.
