Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special .243 Winchester, 21.5" Threaded Heavy Barrel

The Remington Model 700 BDL Varmint Special is a bolt action rifle built on the Remington 700 action, configured specifically for varmint and target shooting. The Varmint Special is distinguished from the standard BDL by its heavy straight contour barrel and a wider beavertail profiled forend designed to accommodate the heavier barrel and provide a stable rest on sandbags or other supports. The action is Remington's two lug push feed design with a recessed bolt face and plunger ejector. The stock is American walnut with a high gloss finish, black forend tip, black pistol grip cap with white line spacers, and skip line cut checkering. The rifle feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate released by a catch inside the trigger guard. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting.

This example is chambered in .243 Winchester with a heavy contour barrel that has been cut and threaded. The .243 Winchester is a centerfire cartridge introduced in 1955, based on a necked down .308 Winchester case, widely used for varmint hunting and medium game. The bolt body is jeweled and the receiver and barrel are finished in polished blue. Accompanied by scope rings, no original box or accessories included.
