Remington 600 6.5 Remington Magnum, Vented Rib, 18.5 Inch Barrel

The Remington Model 600 is a bolt action carbine introduced in 1964, designed as a compact, fast-handling rifle for brush hunting and timber environments. Built on a shortened Remington 700 pattern push feed action, the Model 600 features a dog leg bolt handle, a counterbored bolt face with plunger ejector and sliding plate extractor, and a distinctive ventilated rib running the length of the barrel. The barrel measures 18.5 inches, contributing to the rifle's compact overall length and light weight. The Model 600 was offered in several chamberings including .222 Remington, .223 Remington, 6mm Remington, .308 Winchester, .35 Remington, and 6.5 Remington Magnum. The 6.5 Remington Magnum is a short belted magnum cartridge introduced in 1966, based on a shortened and necked down .350 Remington Magnum case. It was designed to deliver magnum class ballistics from a short action and 18.5 inch barrel, pushing 120 grain bullets to approximately 3,100 fps. Despite its ballistic merits, the cartridge never achieved widespread commercial success. Production of the Model 600 ran from 1964 to 1968.

This example is chambered in 6.5 Remington Magnum and features the standard 18.5 inch barrel with ventilated rib. The rifle is fitted with a laminated two tone wood stock and a plastic trigger guard and floorplate assembly. A blade front sight is mounted to the vented rib, and the receiver is fitted with a scope base with an incorporated flip up rear peep sight. No original box or accessories included.
