Remington Model 572 Lightweight Fieldmaster .22 LR, Teal Wing Blue, Manufactured July 1958
The Remington Model 572 Lightweight Fieldmaster is a pump action .22 caliber rifle produced from 1957 to 1962 as a color anodized variant of the standard Model 572. The Lightweight designation refers to the use of an aluminum receiver and aluminum lined barrel in place of steel, significantly reducing overall weight. Remington offered the 572 Lightweight in three factory anodized colors: Buckskin Tan, Crow Wing Black, and Teal Wing Blue, with the Teal Wing Blue being the least common of the three. The rifle chambers .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle interchangeably, feeding from a tubular magazine beneath the barrel.
This example was manufactured in July of 1958 based on the OE barrel date code, placing it in the early years of production for the Lightweight series. The barrel measures 23.5 inches and the rifle is finished in the Teal Wing Blue anodized color with chrome plated trim. The sights are gold colored, consisting of a blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. The stocks are Remington's deluxe Sun Grain blonde hardwood with a distinctive double diamond press checkering pattern on the forend and checkering at the wrist, paired with a ribbed aluminum Remington buttplate. No original box or accessories included.
