Remington Model 31-TC Trap 12 Gauge, 28" Barrel, Poly-Choke, MFG October 1948
The Remington Model 31 is a pump action shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms in Ilion, New York, from 1931 to 1949. The Model 31 uses a bottom loading, side ejecting action with dual action bars, providing smooth and reliable cycling. The 31-TC was the trap grade variant of the Model 31, configured for competitive trap shooting and distinguished from the standard field models by its ventilated rib barrel, and higher grade walnut furniture. The 31-TC was a direct competitor to the Winchester Model 12 Trap during its production run, eventually being succeeded by the Remington Model 870 in 1950.
This example was manufactured in October 1948, as indicated by its ETT barrel date code, and is chambered in 12 gauge with a 2 3/4 inch chamber. It is fitted with a 28 inch barrel marked for a Fixed Full choke, though the barrel has been fitted with a Poly-Choke adjustable choke. The ventilated rib is equipped with sights consisting of a midbead on the rib and a front bead on the Poly-Choke. The stock and forend are gloss finished walnut with cut checkering, the stock featuring a capped pistol grip and white line red rubber buttpad, which has become quite hard. The length of pull measures 14.25 inches. No original box or accessories are included.
