The Remington Model 11-87 is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun introduced in 1987 and built on the same general system as the earlier Model 1100. The action cycles using gas tapped from the barrel to drive the bolt assembly rearward and feed the next shell from the tubular magazine. The Super Magnum variant is chambered for 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge shells and uses a barrel seal activator on the magazine tube to assist cycling lighter loads when installed.
