The Ruger Vaquero is a single action revolver introduced in 1993. Built on a large steel investment cast frame, the Vaquero uses a fixed rear sight milled into the top strap and a half cock notch loading position. The action incorporates a transfer bar safety mechanism, allowing the revolver to be carried with all six chambers loaded. The cylinder accepts both .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges. Production of this original large frame Vaquero continued until 2005, when Ruger introduced a redesigned version on a mid size frame.

This example is model 00577, manufactured in 1998, with a 4 5/8 inch barrel and a polished stainless steel finish throughout. The revolver is fitted with smooth wood grips with Ruger medallion inserts. Sights consist of a blade front and a fixed rear notch integral to the top strap. No original box or accessories included.
