Ruger No. 1 Stainless Laminate .45-70 Government, 22 Inch Barrel
The Ruger No. 1 is a single shot falling block rifle introduced in 1967, designed by Lenard Brownell and built on an action derived from the 19th century Farquharson falling block. The action is operated by an underlever that doubles as the trigger guard. Depressing the lever drops the breechblock, extracting the fired case and exposing the chamber for loading. Closing the lever raises the breechblock into battery and the rifle is fired via a rebounding hammer. The receiver is machined from a solid block of steel and features integral scope mount bases along the quarter rib. The .45-70 Government chambering in the No. 1 falling block action allows for the use of higher pressure handloads that exceed the limitations of lever action platforms, making it a capable large bore rifle for heavy game.
This example is Model 01399, chambered in .45-70 Government with a 22 inch satin stainless steel barrel and satin stainless receiver. The rifle is fitted with a gray laminate stock and forend, and equipped with a front blade sight and flip up rear sight. Original box and scope rings included.
