Ruger M77 6mm Remington, Tang Safety MFG 1978, with 1" Scope Rings
The Ruger M77 is a bolt action rifle manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & Co., introduced in 1968 as Ruger's first bolt action centerfire rifle. The M77 action is a push feed design with a sliding plate extractor and a plunger ejector. The receiver is investment cast steel, a hallmark of Ruger's manufacturing process, and incorporates Ruger's integral scope base system machined directly into the receiver bridge and ring, designed to accept Ruger scope rings without the need for separate bases. The original M77 features a tang safety located on the upper tang behind the bolt, which locks the trigger when engaged. The barrel and receiver are finished in polished blue. The M77 is fitted with an American walnut stock with checkering on the pistol grip and forend, a red rubber buttpad, and sling swivel studs. The rifle feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate.
This example is chambered in 6mm Remington and was manufactured in 1978. The rifle is equipped with the original tang safety configuration, distinguishing it from the later Mark II series which transitioned to a three position wing safety and a controlled round feed action. Accompanied by 1" scope rings, no original box or additional accessories included.
