The Ruger M77 Mark II VT (Varmint Target) is a bolt action rifle designed for varmint and target shooting applications. The Mark II action is a controlled round feed design with a non-rotating Mauser type claw extractor and a fixed blade ejector. The action incorporates a three position wing safety on the bolt shroud, with a middle position that allows the bolt to be cycled while the safety is engaged. The VT variant features a heavy profile barrel and a laminate stock with a wide, flat bottomed forend suited for stable benchrest and sandbag shooting. The barrel and receiver are finished in polished blue, while the bolt body and bolt handle are stainless steel. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting using Ruger's integral scope base system machined into the top of the receiver. The rifle feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate.

This example is chambered in .243 Winchester with a 26 inch heavy profile barrel. The stock is a gray/green laminate with a flat forend profile. No original box or accessories included.
