The Para Ordnance P12-45 is a compact single action semi automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, built on a widened 1911 style platform to accommodate a proprietary double stack magazine. Designed and originally manufactured by Para Ordnance Manufacturing Inc. of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, the P12 was one of the earliest production 1911 pattern pistols to offer a high capacity .45 ACP double stack configuration in a compact frame. The pistol operates on the standard Browning tilting barrel short recoil locking system and uses a single action trigger with a thumb safety and grip safety consistent with the 1911 manual of arms. The compact frame and slide assembly pair a shortened dust cover with a 3.5 inch barrel, producing a pistol sized for concealed carry while delivering 12+1 capacity in .45 ACP. The double stack grip is necessarily wider than a standard 1911 but was designed to maintain ergonomic proportions. The P12 feeds from Para Ordnance's proprietary double stack single feed magazines.
