Molot VEPR 6.5 Grendel, Thumbhole Stock
The Molot VEPR is a semi-automatic rifle manufactured by the Molot factory in Vyatskie Polyany, Russia, built on the heavier RPK light machine gun receiver rather than the standard AKM receiver. The RPK-pattern receiver uses 1.5mm thick stamped steel compared to the 1.0mm stamped steel of a standard AKM, and incorporates a heavier front trunnion and bolt, providing a more rigid and durable platform. The VEPR uses the standard AK long stroke gas piston operating system with a rotating bolt. The heavier RPK receiver and trunnion, combined with a hammer forged chrome lined barrel, make the VEPR well suited to calibers with higher pressure and bolt thrust than 7.62x39. The 6.5 Grendel chambering offers significantly greater effective range and ballistic performance than standard AK calibers while remaining compatible with the AK bolt face diameter.
This example was imported by FIME Group and is chambered in 6.5 Grendel. The rifle is configured with a checkered walnut thumbhole stock and checkered walnut handguard in the factory sporter configuration. The barrel is fitted with a pinned thread protector. Sights consist of an RPK-style rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a hooded front post. Accompanied by three magazines and original box included.
