The Marlin Model 39A is the longest continuously produced shoulder firearm in the world, with its lineage tracing back to the Marlin Model 1891. The Model 39A is a lever action rifle chambered in .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, feeding from a tubular magazine housed beneath the barrel. The action uses a lever operated breech bolt with a solid top receiver and side ejection. The 39A features Marlin's takedown design, allowing the rifle to be separated into two assemblies by unscrewing a thumbscrew on the receiver, a feature carried forward from earlier Marlin lever actions. The hammer is rebounding, and the rifle incorporates a crossbolt push button safety located at the upper rear of the receiver.

The 39AWL is the Wildlife for Tomorrow commemorative edition, produced in a limited run of 2,000 rifles. This example features a 24 inch half octagon, half round barrel, a select walnut pistol grip stock and forend with cut checkering, gold bead blade front sight, and adjustable rear sight. The receiver has been drilled and tapped for scope mounting. No original box or additional accessories included.

The left side of the receiver features a gold inlaid squirrel scene set against black scrollwork engraving. The right side of the receiver is engraved with floral scrollwork and "1 of 2000," with gold inlaid text reading "Wildlife for Tomorrow" and "Sportsmen Supporting Conservation."
