Universal M1 Carbine .30 Carbine, Ten Magazines
The Universal M1 Carbine is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .30 Carbine, produced by Universal Firearms Corporation. Universal began manufacturing M1 Carbine pattern rifles in the 1960s, initially using surplus USGI parts combined with newly manufactured receivers. Over time, Universal transitioned to proprietary components, departing significantly from the original USGI M1 Carbine design. The Hialeah, Florida produced carbines represent Universal's later production, in which the company implemented a redesigned operating system utilizing dual recoil spring guide rods. The rifles otherwise maintain the general external profile and manual of arms of the M1 Carbine platform, accepting standard .30 Carbine magazines and featuring the same general layout of controls.
This example, serial number 166779, was manufactured at Universal's Hialeah, Florida facility and is configured with the dual recoil rod operating system. The carbine is equipped with a walnut stock and vented metal heat shield upper handguard. Accompanied by ten KCI 30-round magazines, a sling, oiler, and bayonet lug. No original box included.
