The DGFM Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 is an Argentine manufactured variant of the Colt M1911A1, produced at the Direccion General de Fabricaciones Militares (DGFM) facility, formerly known as Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles (FMAP), in Rosario, Argentina. The Sistema Colt 1927 was manufactured under license from Colt and follows the standard M1911A1 pattern: a full size, single action semi automatic pistol originally chambered in 11.25mm (.45 ACP). During the mid 20th century, a number of these pistols were converted from their original 11.25mm chambering to .22 LR by Establecimiento Venturini S.A., an Argentine firm. The Venturini conversion replaces the original barrel and recoil system with a dedicated .22 LR barrel incorporating a floating chamber system similar in principle to the Colt Service Model Ace. The floating chamber surrounds the cartridge and is allowed to move rearward under gas pressure upon firing, amplifying the rearward impulse generated by the .22 LR cartridge to provide sufficient energy to cycle the full size 1911 slide. Because the conversion uses the original full size steel frame and slide, the converted pistol's weight is nearly identical to that of a standard 11.25mm Sistema Colt 1927. The dedicated Venturini magazines incorporate the ejector as part of the magazine assembly.

This example is a 1954 production pistol, bearing the serial number 82488 on the right side of the frame, right side of the slide, and top of the slide. The right side of the slide is marked with the Buenos Aires Provincial crest and the inscription "POLICIA DE LA PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES," with the Venturini conversion marking "TRANSF. A CAL. 22 L.R. POR EST. VENTURINI S.A." below. The left side of the slide is marked "D.G.F.M.-(F.M.A.P.)". The pistol is finished in black throughout and is fitted with black checkered rubber grips. The barrel bushing is marked "FORD" and has developed a warm amber patina. Accompanied by three serialized non-matching 10-round magazines. No original box or accessories included.
