The Leupold Vari-X III is a second generation premium variable power riflescope from Leupold's long-running Vari-X line, which served as the company's flagship hunting optic series through the 1990s and into the early 2000s before being succeeded by the VX-III and later VX-3 designations. The 3.5-10x40mm configuration provides a practical magnification range for medium to long range hunting applications, with a 40mm objective lens that balances light gathering capability against a compact mounting profile. Built on a 1 inch main tube, the Vari-X III uses Leupold's Multicoat 4 lens system to maximize light transmission across the visible spectrum. The scope is constructed from a single piece 6061-T6 aluminum housing that is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance. The Vari-X III features finger adjustable 1/4 MOA click windage and elevation turrets beneath protective screw-on caps and a fixed parallax setting at 150 yards.
