The Kimber 8400 Montana is a bolt action rifle designed as a lightweight mountain hunting platform, built on Kimber's 8400 long action. The 8400 action is a controlled round feed design with a Mauser type claw extractor and a mechanical ejector, paired with a three position wing safety that allows the bolt to be cycled with the safety in the middle position. The action is machined from stainless steel and the barrel is stainless steel with a sporter weight contour, keeping the complete rifle remarkably light for a magnum caliber platform. The Montana variant feeds from an internal box magazine with a blind floorplate. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting and ships without iron sights, intended to be used with a mounted optic.

This example is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum with a 24 inch stainless steel sporter weight barrel. The stock is a blue-gray pillar bedded Kevlar/carbon fiber composite with a classic sporter profile, straight comb, and slim forend. Includes a set of 1" scope rings. No box or additional accessories.
