Izhmash Saiga Sporter 7.62x39
The Saiga Sporter is a semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) in Izhevsk, Russia, based on the AK platform. The Saiga uses the standard AK long stroke gas piston operating system with a rotating bolt. Originally designed for the civilian and export markets, Saiga rifles were imported into the United States in a sporter configuration to comply with federal import regulations, typically featuring a non-threaded barrel and lack of pistol grip or bayonet lug.
This example features a dimpled stamped steel receiver and is configured with a Phoenix Technology buttstock and a TangoDown BG-AK pistol grip in place of the original sporter stock. The barrel is non-threaded. Accompanied by one Bulgarian 30-round steel magazine. No original box or accessories included.
