Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 12 Gauge, 20" Barrel, Polished Stainless, Engraved Receiver, MFG 1966
The Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight is a pump action shotgun produced by Ithaca Gun Company in Ithaca, New York, beginning in 1937. The design is distinguished by its bottom loading and bottom ejecting action, which makes the receiver fully enclosed on both sides and allows ambidextrous operation. This enclosed receiver design also provides a natural canvas for decorative engraving. The Model 37 uses a single action bar and a rotary bolt lockup, and the action is slam fire capable. The Featherlight designation reflects the lightweight profile achieved through extensive milling of the receiver and other components, making it one of the lightest pump action shotguns of its era.
This example was manufactured in 1966 and is chambered in 12 gauge. It is fitted with a 20 inch barrel with a fixed modified choke and a front bead sight. All metal surfaces are polished stainless. Both sides of the receiver feature engraved dog and bird hunting scenes. The walnut stock displays fleur-de-lis checkering, and is paired with a corn cob forend. The bottom of the stock is stamped "XXX XXX". The length of pull measures 13.75 inches. No original box or accessories included.
