International Harvester M1 Garand .30-06 Springfield, IHC Receiver, Faxon Barrel

The M1 Garand is a gas operated, semi-automatic rifle that served as the standard issue infantry arm of the United States military from 1936 through the late 1950s. The action uses a long stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt that locks into the barrel via two locking lugs. The rifle feeds from an eight round en bloc clip that is inserted into the internal magazine from the top of the open action and is automatically ejected after the last round is fired. During World War II, the M1 was manufactured in large numbers by Springfield Armory and Winchester. As demand increased through the war and into the Korean War era, contracts were awarded to additional manufacturers, including International Harvester Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. International Harvester produced approximately 337,623 M1 Garands, making IHC the lowest production volume among the four major M1 Garand contractors. IHC rifles were produced using a combination of in house manufactured components and parts sourced from other contractors.

This example is built on an International Harvester receiver with an IHC bolt, IHC trigger group, and IHC operating rod. The barrel is a Faxon barrel with a date code of 07/24 and a length of 24 inches. The stock and gas cylinder are CMP replacement components. No box, paperwork, or accessories included.
