Great Western Arms Company Single Action Revolver .44 Magnum, 7.5" Barrel, Color Case Hardened

The Great Western Arms Co. single action revolver was manufactured in Los Angeles, California from 1954 through approximately 1964. The Great Western was produced as a close copy of the Colt Single Action Army, using a nearly identical lockwork and dimensional profile. Great Western Arms positioned the revolver as a domestically produced alternative to the original Colt SAA during a period when Colt had discontinued production of the Single Action Army (1941 to 1956), leaving a gap in the market that Great Western sought to fill. The revolvers were offered in a range of barrel lengths and chamberings, and total production is estimated at roughly 22,000 units across all configurations.

This example is chambered in .44 Magnum and sports a 7.5 inch barrel. The frame features a color case hardening finish, while the grip frame, trigger guard, barrel, cylinder, and trigger are blued. Sights consist of a blade front and a notch rear integral to the frame. The revolver is fitted with wood grips. No original box or accessories included.
