The Glock 22 RTF2 is based on the standard Glock 22 platform, utilizing a polymer frame and striker fired operating system, but incorporates the Rough Texture Frame 2, which uses sharply molded grip texturing rather than the standard Gen 3 frame texture. This version features the early “Fish Gill” slide serrations, a curved serration pattern at the rear of the slide that contrasts with the straight vertical serrations found on standard production models. Internally and mechanically, the pistol remains consistent with the Glock 22 Gen 3 design. The pistol retains the original Glock “frying pan” slide finish, a thick, matte black surface treatment known for corrosion resistance and durability.

The Fish Gill serration pattern was introduced during a limited production period and was later discontinued in favor of conventional serrations. The Glock 22 itself saw widespread law enforcement adoption due to its balance of magazine capacity, durability, and .40 caliber chambering, making the RTF2 Fish Gill an example of a distinct subset within Glock’s service pistol history.
