The RTF2 designation refers to Rough Textured Frame 2, a grip texture variant produced during the Gen 3 era that features a dense pattern of small raised pyramidal points molded into the polymer frame. This texture provides substantially more aggressive purchase than the standard Gen 3 pebble texture, particularly under wet or adverse conditions. The RTF2 variants were produced in limited quantities and are no longer part of standard Glock production. The pistol operates on a short recoil, locked breech system using a modified Browning cam lock design with a rectangular breech lockup. The pistol uses Glock's Safe Action trigger system, which incorporates three passive safeties: a trigger safety, a firing pin safety, and a drop safety.
