Franchi 48 AL 20 Gauge Semi-Automatic Shotgun

The Franchi 48 AL is a long recoil operated semi-automatic shotgun introduced in 1948 and produced in Italy by Luigi Franchi. The design is mechanically derived from John Browning's Auto 5 system, using the same long recoil principle in which the barrel and bolt travel rearward together before separating to cycle the next shell. The 48AL combines this proven operating system with a lightweight aluminum alloy receiver, resulting in a shotgun well suited for extended carrying in the field.

This is a later production example imported into the United States by Benelli USA Corp, chambered in 20 gauge with a 2 3/4 inch chamber and fitted with a 24 inch barrel with improved cylinder choke. The receiver features a black anodized finish and the shotgun is fitted with walnut furniture with a length of pull of approximately 14 inches. It feeds from a tubular magazine beneath the barrel. No original box or accessories included.
