FB Radom Vis wz.35, 9mm, German Occupation Production, MFG 1941-1942
The Vis wz.35, commonly referred to as the Radom, is a single action semi-automatic pistol designed by Piotr Wilniewczyc and Jan Skrzypinski and adopted by the Polish military in 1935. Chambered in 9x19, the pistol operates on a short recoil, locked breech system utilizing a Browning cam-link locking mechanism. The design incorporates a grip safety, a slide mounted decocker that safely lowers the hammer without firing, and a frame mounted takedown lever on the left side. Production began at the Fabryka Broni (FB) plant in Radom, Poland. Pre-war Polish military examples featured a slotted frame for a detachable shoulder stock, a feature that was ultimately eliminated. Following the German occupation of Poland in 1939, production continued under German military oversight, with the pistol designated as the Pistole 35(p) and issued primarily to German military and paramilitary forces. Early occupation production maintained the high quality, fit, and finish of the pre-war Polish pistols, retaining the takedown lever, decocker, and all standard controls. As wartime production progressed, manufacturing was increasingly simplified, eliminating the decocker mechanism, then the takedown lever, with overall fit and finish declining through the final production runs in 1944-1945.
This example is an early German occupation production Vis wz.35, identified by the full "FB Radom VIS Mod 35 Pat Nr 15567" rollmark on the left side of the slide. The pistol features the takedown lever, decocker, and grip safety consistent with early occupation manufacture. It is fitted with brown checkered grip panels bearing "FB" and "VIS" markings, consistent with early occupation production.
The pistol carries Waffenamt acceptance and inspection stamps throughout. Both sides of the frame bear eagle over "77" (WaA77) inspector stamps. The left side of the slide carries three Waffenamt markings: a WaA77 inspector stamp, a Waffenamt acceptance eagle, and a WaA623 (Steyr inspection mark). The left side of the barrel displays a Waffenamt acceptance eagle, and the right side of the barrel is stamped with WaA623. The magazine floor plate is stamped WA189. No additional accessories included.
