The LE901 is built on a forged aluminum receiver set using a direct gas impingement rotating bolt system. In its standard configuration the rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester with a 16.1 inch chrome-lined barrel and feeds from SR-25 pattern magazines. The upper receiver is a monolithic railed assembly with a free floating barrel and folding backup sights, and a collapsible stock.

The defining feature of the LE901 is the modular lower receiver. With the use of a magazine well adapter and appropriate buffer components, the rifle can accept standard AR-15 type upper receivers and operate in 5.56×45 configurations. The system was developed as a crossover platform combining AR-10 and AR-15 pattern rifles into a single lower receiver. Accompanied by one magazine, no original box or accessories.
