This KAC MRE Clone is a tribute to the rifles used by SFOD-D (Delta Force) during the early years of the Global War on Terror. These rifles stood out for their mission-adaptable features and uncompromising reliability in high-risk environments like Iraq and Afghanistan. The Modular Rail Extension (MRE) system from Knights Armament was a significant leap forward at the time, providing a free-floated, extended-length quad rail that accommodated lights, lasers, and vertical grips well beyond the standard carbine handguards.

This build includes a Colt 14.5" government profile barrel with a standard A2 birdcage flash hider (not pinned or welded), paired with a Colt square forge upper receiver. The internal components are mostly period correct, including a Colt half-moon bolt carrier group and Colt charging handle. At the heart of the upper receiver is the KAC MRE rail, a key element of the original SFOD-D configuration that gives this build its name and operational credibility.
