Colt Combat Commander .38 Super, Satin Nickel, MFG 1974, Wilson Combat Controls

The Colt Combat Commander is a single action only semi automatic pistol and the compact slide variant of the Colt Government Model 1911 platform. Introduced in 1970 as a steel frame counterpart to the aluminum frame Lightweight Commander, the Combat Commander uses a 4.25 inch barrel and correspondingly shortened slide assembly mounted on a full size steel frame, reducing overall length and slide mass while maintaining the full grip length and magazine capacity of the Government Model.

This example was manufactured in 1974 and is chambered in .38 Super with the original satin nickel finish on the frame and slide. The controls and hardware appear to be replaced with Wilson Combat black components, including a Blue High Grip Bobtail grip safety, extended thumb safety, magazine release, slide stop, skeletonized trigger, skeletonized hammer, and barrel bushing, creating a contrasting two tone appearance against the nickel surfaces. The pistol is fitted with a fiber optic front sight and a low profile Novak-style rear sight, and wears black rubber grips. The original factory grip safety and original front sight are included, as well as one magazine and non-original box.
